Our Crowdfunding Groups
With the support of alumni and friends, the WP in DC Alumni Scholarship is awarded annually to a William Paterson University student who has an internship, fellowship or who is studying in Washington, DC. This academic year the Scholarship was awarded to Dena Janos '21.
Dena is a senior and has a dual major of criminology and criminal justice and sociology, with a minor in social justice. Dena has a strong grade point average that has consistently earned her a place on the Dean’s List. In addition to her full-time studies, Dena has served as President, Vice President of student life, and Senator of student life for William Paterson’s Student Government Association. She has also served as an orientation leader and performed community service activities through William Paterson’s Change Builder Project. Dena is a member of the National Society for Leadership and Success, Order of Omega all-Greek honor society, Alpha Kappa Delta international honor society of sociology, and Alpha Phi Sigma criminal justice honor society. Dena also works two part-time jobs to help pay for her education.
This academic year Dena interned with the National Peace Corps Association in Washington, DC and describes it as a "highlight of my college career". She plans to pursue a career in humanitarian aid. She sends her sincere appreciation to the donors who funded the WP in DC Scholarship.
